Almuerzo y Aprendizaje: Intro to Grief Through a Mexican-American Lens
November 10, 2025 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
ECALT Presents: Intro to Grief Through a Mexican-American Lens
1 CEU Credit Available
This training will go beyond the traditional “stages of grief” model to explore a more culturally-sensitive approach. We will focus on the Mexican-American experience of grief, including the importance of family, faith, and community in the healing process.
In this training, you will learn to:
- Understand Cultural Nuances: Recognize how cultural traditions like familismo, novenas, and Día de los Muertos shape the grieving process.
- Embrace “Continuing Bonds”: Shift your focus from “letting go” to helping clients keep the memory of their deceased loved ones alive.
- Apply Culturally-Informed Tools: Discover practical ways to help clients heal by using storytelling and rituals that honor their heritage.
Presenter: Patricia Abigail Caballero, MA, NCC, LPC
